Palengkeskwelahan inaugurates new building

Tagum, promising a cold night in this part of the
planet. Soon after, droplets of rain started to startle
everybody in this place called the Night Market
where the heavy downpour of rain poses a grave
threat to the merchants and an equal dismay to their
patrons.
And this is where I found myself one night-
-amazed with how a busy street in broad daylight
transform into a bustling night market at the fall of
dusk. From the moment the sun kisses the western
sky, stalls sprout in the busy streets like mushrooms
and leave in the wee hours of the morning, just
before the mighty sun rises up and brings in a new
day full of hope. The usual sight of people from all
walks of life happily dining or haggling over preowned
clothes or designer bags or branded shoes
would surely leave an impression that night life is
more fun in this part of the world.
The strong wind or this excessive energy
present in the area probably blew the dark clouds
on that Sunday night. This is also when I felt I was
invisible. My romance with my camera, I then
realized, was a travesty of invisibility.
I am adamant that it is this invisibility
enabled me to see things on a large scale and
differently. My amazement of the place was only
short-lived as my attention was grabbed by persons
selling customized balloons. This scene exudes a
patina of happiness in a place where people seems
to brush it off. Except for children, of course. As
usual, and as each of us could have experienced
then, the radiant glow of excitement and happiness
is evidenced the moment a child lets hold of the tiny
string of the balloon and making sure it doesn’t let
go up in the air. To put it succinctly in our own

Enchanted for a day

When I woke up on sun-kissed morning of the 25th of June this year, I was smiling because I know many great things will happen. And it really was a day full of excitement, adrenaline rush and sweat. Perhaps one of the perks of being a writer for the City Information Office is to get along with big wigs on a very special tour around my beloved hometown. The night one of my bosses informed me that the famed photographer and multimedia personality Miss Jojie Alcantara is coming to town, I decided to cancel all my schedule for that day. The famous photographer herself is one big reason for me to do that aside from the fact that the place we will be visiting is one of the places I consider as "foreign" in my hometown. At long last, I'll be able to trail the 2-hour, 48-kilometer river cruise at Tancuan Creek which is connected to the mighty Davao Gulf.

We all had a full day to explore Tagum City's wild side. For an individual like me who always dreamed of finishing the trail at Tancuan, the scenes I saw and the adventures I and my colleagues went through is definitely one for history books! Audacious as it may seem, but that experience ultimately defied my expectations.

The mangroves are in full green, all bright blazing brilliance, with roots soaked in a calm, green water. I felt comfortable at my spot in the city-owned speedboat while I was romantic over the blossoms of the trees. The place itself is bleeding with so much grandeur I cannot fathom. Along the cruise, you will be enchanted with the activities happening in the place: folks sorting bangus,

Brand New Day, Brand New Blog

TAGUM CITY, PHILIPPINES--After five years of being idle at blogging here in blogspot, I am now officially back. It was way back in senior year in high school when I started blogging using this site. In the 365 days that past, I maintained a personal blog that's mainly focused on two things: random thoughts and my lame photography. Five years ago, I all writing about weekly experiences in high school--from student leadership to the excitement of talking with your first love. Five years had past and many things had changed.

PARADIGM SHIFT

Starting today, I'll be bringing back this blog online with the anticipation of showcasing my hometown - Tagum City. Here, I'll be posting relevant news about the Palm City of the Philippines and my thoughts about one thing or two. Today marks a new beginning in my blogging career (yes, blogging is a career) as I will turn a shift in paradigm. This blog will be my official secondary blog, next to Blackholes and Revelations which is more personal.

So what will I write/post here?

Like Tagum City which is tagged as the City of Golden Opportunities, I'll be posting wide varieties of topics -- from the city's festivals, delicacies, attractions, human resource and extraordinary endeavors of TagumeƱos. I'll also give you a back story of the press releases I write for the Tagum City Official Website. Inasmuch as possible, I'll write posts that will give you a backstage pass to major events and happenings in the city.

I am indeed forward that this blog will really live up to its purpose.

Tagum City, the world is waiting.

It's a brand new day for a brand new blog.

Louie.

PS: Thanks in part to another TagumeƱo blogger, Mr. Leo Timogan of Tagum Exposure for encouraging me to revive this blog. I'll be forever grateful.
